Walking in the Shadows of Greatness

An important part of my musical journey was traveling to the heart of the Blues, the land where it all began many years ago and that place is Clarksdale Mississippi. This trip was put together by my friend Gary and I with the intention of writing and recording original music while using a simple single track field recorder.

We arrived with no instruments with the intent of buying an electric guitar from a Pawn Shop, which we did in Memphis, the acoustic guitar was borrowed. The lyrics would be written, music created and then recorded while on our trip. Gary and I worked very well together collaborating on each song. We were featured on the King Biscuit Radio Show with Sonny Payne when we went back to the Delta five months later for our CD release party.

Walking in the Shadows of Greatness was an experience I will never forget, Billy Howell of the Delta Bohemian wrote; "Two friends had a crazy idea and they actually did it." and I can say I'm glad that we did. Having met such great people and playing in the heart of the Delta Blues was a humbling and cherished experience.
“This guy is good.”
